Powertrain Advantage

Smart AWD — Built to Perform

The MF 500R’s Smart AWD system delivers more power, less fuel, and precise control that Apache’s 2-wheel drive simply can’t match.

Reduced Fuel Consumption

Smart AWD lets operators run the engine at lower speeds while maintaining peak performance — averaging just 3.8 gallons per hour.

Power on Demand

The system automatically adjusts engine speed to deliver power precisely when it’s needed, eliminating waste and reducing drivetrain wear.

Precise Ground Speed Control

Operators can set exact ground speeds for consistent application — no guessing required. Apache’s powershift requires manual gear matching.

Enhanced Drivetrain Durability

Smart AWD reduces shock load on the drivetrain, extending its lifespan and lowering long-term maintenance costs compared to driveshaft-based systems.

The Bottom Line

Why Choose Massey Ferguson?

Pound for pound, the MF 500R Series packs more standard features, better technology, and greater long-term ROI than the competition.

More Standard Features

Recirculation, boom cleanout, boom recovery, Smart AWD, and 36-section control all come standard on every MF 500R. Apache requires costly options to reach the same level.

MF Advantage

Faster, Cleaner Priming

LiquidLogic® primes in under 50 seconds with zero chemical waste. Faster cleanout means more time spraying and less time maintaining — a real-world productivity edge.

MF Advantage

Superior Application Accuracy

36-section control reduces overlap by up to 98%, protecting inputs and maximizing ROI per acre. Apache’s 9-section system results in excessive overlap and wasted product.

MF Advantage

Late-Season Advantage

With 53″ of crop clearance on the 525R and 59″ on the 530R — versus Apache’s 48″ — MF operators can capitalize on late-season and rescue applications that competitors simply can’t make.

MF Advantage

Flexible Chassis — Better Ride

MF’s C-Channel flex frame allows up to 24″ of axle travel, keeping all four wheels on the ground. Apache’s rigid frame amplifies terrain impact, reducing ride quality and coverage consistency.

MF Advantage

Long-Term ROI

Lower fuel consumption, fewer maintenance points, standard features that competitors charge extra for, and a tractor-style cab that reduces operator fatigue — the MF 500R pays for itself over the life of ownership.
